At Island Pride Garden Co., roots are at the heart of everything we do. When we grow plants, we look for bright, healthy roots, knowing that strong beginnings lead to vibrant growth.
Now, Anne and John are returning to their own roots.
Announcement: Hunter River location is closing August 2nd
Our journey began in Wood Islands and the Farmers Market, eventually expanding to include our Hunter River location in 2006. Over the years, we’ve nurtured our plants, our customers, and even our own children with the same philosophy: everything flourishes when it’s grounded in something strong and meaningful.
But seasons change – and so do we – and bigger isn’t always better. True growth comes from understanding what helps things thrive. We’ve always defined quality by what’s happening below the surface. When pulled from its pot, a healthy plant will have thriving roots – roots that fill the soil and are ready to stretch, adapt, and grow in new directions. Likewise, we are choosing to direct our energy and passion back to where it all began in our original Wood Islands location.
Our focus will always stay rooted in what matters most.

To our incredible team – past and present – thank you. Your hard work, care, and commitment brought Island Pride Garden Co to life in this community, and we appreciate your dedication to bringing our products to market. We’re especially grateful to our on-site managers, Jeanette and Tracy, whose leadership and resilience carried us through pouring rain, spring frosts, summer heatwaves, sudden truckload arrivals of plants to unload, and everything in between. We cannot thank you enough.
We know Island Pride will be missed in Hunter River – we’ll miss it, too. It’s been a true privilege to be part of your gardens and your growing seasons.
